Catching Up.

Most everyone who knows us knows that Herman is a champion gift giver. Seriously, the guy deserves an award or something - or a really good gift. In the 10 years that I've known him, he's never phoned it in when it comes to special occasions (do you all remember the renting of the Shelby Mustang for the 5th anniversary?).

Now, we're not big Valentines Day celebrators, but last Tuesday (the one before v-day), homeboy comes home and hands me a box (which feels suspiciously light) to open. When I protested that we weren't supposed to get each other anything, he insisted that it was really a gift to us. A gift of tickets to the Warriors/Suns game the next night (I'd been begging him since we moved back to take me to a Warriors game when the Suns were in town)!

The game was perfect, albeit a bit strange with me rooting on my Suns while Herman rooted on his Warriors (and I just have to say, in any other situation, I'd totally be rooting on the Warriors - have you watched Baron Davis play?)...with thousands of other Warriors fans. The only part of the night that wasn't perfect (for me) was when Barbosa missed a three pointer with 3.2 seconds left in the game, leaving the Suns to lose by two. Otherwise, perfect.

The Internets. We Finally Have Them.

So this small thing happened on January 30th: we got the keys to our house! OK, not such a small thing, but rather a huge and exciting thing. Behold! The house (and yes, I realize that the photos are pretty much identical to the ones in the post below):

After getting our keys, a few things happened that can account for the 3 week blog silence:

1. I almost immediately began to paint. Then I painted some more, and after a painting break...well, I'm still painting. As of right now though, I only have the guest bed and bath left, and then I will have accomplished the huge task of painting our entire place. Except for the rather large wall that at its highest point reaches about 20 feet. That wall is staying white. Unless any of you want to come over and paint it for me. I will post photos once we're settled. Needless to say, it looks quite different.

2. We moved in! And aside from still needing to install blinds on the office and guest bedroom (just ordered from Costco), get a small dining room table, and, oh yeah - unpack everything, we absolutely love it. I can't believe we get to live here, and have no complaints. Except for...

3. A rather annoying smoke detector that sporadically beeps, no matter how many times we change the batteries (it's in the garage though, so it's much less annoying than say, in our bedroom). And the fact that we just got phone/internet today because someone forgot to install all of the wiring for said phone/internet prior to us moving in. Fun stuff.

Other than that, we are two very happy people and one very happy cat (who is back to his old habit of sitting on my hands while I try to type).
